Kheema Patties (Curry Puffs)
Ingredients (filling)
- ½ lb minced lamb/beef
- 3 tbsps oil
- ¼ tsp chilli powder
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 3 cloves garlic (crushed)
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1 small onion finely diced
- 1 green chilli
- 2 tbl sps. tomato puree
- 100gms frozen peas
- 1 med. sized potatoe
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 2 tbl sps. water
- Salt to taste.
Method
Heat oil in a pot, add chopped onion and fry until golden.
Add crushed ginger, garlic and green chilli and fry further for 2 mins.
Add tomato paste and fry until oil separates. Now add chilli & turmeric powders.
Add minced meat and mix well into fried spices.
Add vinegar.
Add water if necessary and cook for 10 mins. Put in the peas & potatoe(pre-cooked) and cook for another 5 mins. Add garam masala and stir well.
Cool the mince filling.
Pastry (Use Saxby puff pastry or some other refrigerated roll out puff pastry).
Pin out puff pastry.
Cut into suitable sized squares and brush edges with water.
Place a spoon of filling in the centre of each square.
Fold over and seal. Pierce the top and decorate the edge with a fork.
Brush with lightly beaten egg and bake on a tray in a hot oven for approx. 7-10 mins.
